Please read below to hear from her what Bugaku is and how it relates to Aikido.

I am pleased to introduce BUGAKU to this Aikido community. BUGAKU method was established by Master Rennon Lee Sensei in Japan. Lee Sensei founded a BUGAKU school based on Taiwanese Kung-Fu art, although he also has decades of experiences of Aikido and Judo. He searched and learned how to BOW in the world, and found a universal law and bases of all martial arts. The art of BOW:  Posture, Spirit, Ambition, and Intention. Only a 2 degree difference of posture can make a huge difference. He established a program named Kokorozashi-Taijutsu (Ambition – Body Art). Lee Sensei brought in this program to the U.S. two years ago, and we Japanese women in Orange County and San Diego learned how to BOW since then.

Initially, I was not sure what this was. But after several practices, I found this is the way to feel, control and connect (Musubi) Ki energy flow in myself and with a partner. It is Aiki. It is very subtle. Whether you feel it or not, it is happening to everyone. We feel and test the flow of Ki and connection (Musubi) during the class with the help of kinesiology. I think it is beneficial to feel Ki flow this way for our Aikido practice too.

Hope to see you there!
Misa.
